Soundaholic's Pick - 15.6.07

I don't wana look like too much of a Justice fan, cause everyone has been blogging about how great they are. But I gotta admit, there isn't simply one day in the last 3-5 months that I haven't listen to a Justice track. Moreover the whole world seems to be listening to their album on loop and every electro DJ have Justice on their set. So low and behold, it's time we drink the water...from Nazareth.

Justice - Waters Of Nazareth
Justice - Waters Of Nazareth (Justice Remix)
Justice - Waters Of Nazareth (Erol Alkan Durr Durrr Durrrrrr Re Edit)

I still remember how I got a headache after hearing this track for the first time. That was about half a year ago and I thought my CD player is skipping, then after awhile into the track, I was banging my head like crazy. Anyway heres a video of the Waters of Nazareth release party, it features a star studded lineup including Feadz, Mr Ozio, Uffie, SebastiAn, DJ Funk, Surkin, Kavinsky, Erol Alkan (Mustapha 3000) and Justice! I would kill to go to a gig like that. (go google the above names, they are the hottest electro musicians around these days)

Soundaholic's Pick - 3.7.07

Oi oi! What's good everyone. It sure has been one hell of a week for me but thankfully I've got this one hell of a band to keep me company. Cansei de ser Sexy's (CSS) would be the most popular band coming out of Brazil yet and their electro-pop/rock and synthish dance-punk tunes are just so addictive. Made up mostly of art-school kids (the usual design your own instruments , clothes and CD sleeve ones) who aren't really proficient with guitars and other instruments just yet, CSS are coming out with great tunes to wow crowds as they toured almost every major music festival around the world this summer nonetheless. So as I am space dancing, shuffling, walking-man(ing), robo dancing and moshing by myself in my lil hot bedroom while listening to CSS and bringing in my 19th year on this world tonite, here's a few tracks for you guys.

And two of their really mind-fucking music videos.

"Let's Make Love and Listen to Death From Above"

"Alala"

and I wana add that I'm just so smitten by their bassist Iracema Trevisan and of course, every guy would notice their Japanese/German/Portugese lead singer Luisa Matsushita which goes by "Lovefoxxx."

Soundaholic's Pick 21.6.07

Nothing from Groove Armada can go wrong. Period. Tom and Andy's done it again, this time with a little help from ex-Sugababes Mutya Buena. In many people's opinion, the latest single "Song 4 Mutya" would be a definate number one in pop charts all accross the world. In my opinion, the best pop track this year, our dear Mika would then be a far second.
Like Mika, whose been trying to do a Freddie Mercury, "Song 4 Mutya" also has this 80's nostalgia and new wave feel to it. A few parts in the song really sound like something from Erasure, Prince and New Order with Tom and Andy's touch to it, and the catchy "its a sure fine way to ruin my day" lyrics would just stick to your head for days!

We also to give abit of love to Mutya Buena for her efforts to re-invent herself after life as a Sugababe. She's dug up a whole lists of contacts including George Michael, Amy Winehouse and of course Groove Armada to help her out on her new album which just dropped earlier this month. So, here you go...enjoy the track.

And to throw in a few bonus tracks...hey everyone's a sucker for Groove Armada and so am I.

Soundaholic's Pick - 13.6.07

hey whats good?

i've been messing with my site for the past hour and blogger is totally different since the last time i used it. anyways...lets get started.

Dragonette is a four piece band from Canada but is now based in the UK. I came accross them while surfing through Discogs earlier this year and its star attraction is undoubtedly its lead singer, Martina Sorbara. After reading up on em, found out that Martina's dad is a conservative politician in Canada and he seems to despise her for being in the band. (Martina's a clean soulful solo singer/songwriter before she adopted the current raunchy image in Dragonette)

Their second single from their debut album "Galore" is "Take It Like A Man." Sounds like good ol' electro-pop, kinda sweet and danceable but not too overwhelming. However, the music video is definately gona turn some heads. Filmed in a retro 60's-ish kinda way (theres this Judy Garland, Grace Kelly texture to it), it depicts a porno-film set where Martina gets it rough with her co-actors. They then zoom in on the comical expressions of all the other people in the set. Simply genius! haha.

So here it is, its got a 18 above only rating in Youtube so i don't know how this is gona work out. cheers.
