Bad Album Name = Kickass Muzaik!!!

We have never doubt Shinichi Osawa's ability to make kickass tunes, but we never knew he had so much in him. This former member of the Japanese band Monde Grosso went on to reinvent himself into one of the top electronic dance musicians of our time. With this new album, Sinichi would have cemented his place at the top echelons of the electro-clash musicians.

The thing that surprises me is I've known Shinichi's style to be the lyte-funky, soothe blending type, but since of late after signing with Kitsune, Shinichi had dropped some dirty, banging electro sounds. In this album, he took it up to another notch, integrating alot of Daft Punk/Justic-esque kind of French Touch into his tunes. On top of that, the album also features alot of big name guest vocalists, including Au Revoir Simone, Princess Superstar and Freeform Five. Definately worth listening, and do get your copy when it reaches our shores.

how many Sebastians does it take to fix a lightbulb?

Answer to the question above : 1, the one who's wearing the sexual sportswear. Funny, no? The similarities are insignificant, we both have the same name and we both are on the 'hairy' side, but he's French and he makes awesome music. Sébastien Tellier of "La Ritournelle" fame drops the latest heat with "Sexual Sportswear" from his new album that is gona be release somewhere during early '08.

The track has this very 'space orchestra' and Kavinsky feeling to it and it really reminds me of Daft Punk's work from the late nineties. I went on to do a little bit of digging, and I found of that Tellier's new album would have help from Daft Punk's Guy Manuel (I really can't remember his full name). Damn, these Frenchies always help each other to make these kick-ass songs.

And that's not all, another Frenchie, SebastiAn (another one), did a HOT HOT HOT remix of le sportswear sexuel. Seb chopped up the track big time and re-constructed it into a funky, sweaty and somewhat break-sy number. Very very addictive!

I'm Afraid of Crocs!

Many music writers have this bad habit of trying to attach a genre to whatever they hear. I have this habit too, but its usually for the purpose of sorting out my music library. Underworld's new song, "crocodile," I don't know whether to put it in the "experimental, leftfield, IDM-ish" folder, the "ambient, chillout" folder, the or "techno" folder. But its sure one hell of a good track, with trace-synthesizers-ish sounds, housy high hats and bongos, and a very new-wavy kind of vocals with a gratuitous serving of echoes. Damn, it sure can't get more rojak than that so here's the track for you, and you can help me decide.

theres another Oliver Huntemann remix that I decided not to post coz its a little too minimal sounding, but still worth checking out too. And ooh wee...I just did a search and found the video for the song, check it out, it's super trippy!

Les Red Head finally hooks up with Justice

I was so excited to see the Les Rythmes Digitales remix (Stuart Price remix on Radio1, LRD Remix on blogs, no idea why) of D.A.N.C.E. played on Radio 1 last weekend and I finally got my hands on it today, and I gotta say, it's mad quality!

For those who don't know who LRD is, his real name is Stuart Price, most accomplished works to date would be the Madonna's "Confessions" album and also touring with her on the "Confessions" concerts. He goes by a few monikers, Jacques Lu Cont, Paper Faces, Thin White Duke for his remixing works and released an album under the LRD name back in 2000. On top of that also plays in a band, Zoot Woman. Whew, does one guy really need to have so many aliases?

Anyways, he's one of the artistes that got me listening to electronic dance music (the other's Daft Punk) and seems like he also play apart in influencing Justice too as they dropped LRD's "Sometimes" during their sets pretty often.

And now have a listen to the track, LRD did a good job keeping the 'chirpy' elements in D.A.N.C.E. unlike the other remixes (MSTRKRFT and Alan Braxe) where they take it away.

Damn Bloody Good!

In this day and age where a nobody can become SOMEBODY in the EDM scene simply by being a computer geek and have lots of blog love. People starts to question the quality of tracks their getting. However, if you're a crusader, you've found your Holy Grain ; if you're a caveman, you've just discovered Fire!!! This mysterious guy from London who goes by Fake Blood becomes an overnight phenom with the music blogging community with his debut remix of The Black Ghost's "Any Way You Choose To Give It." Then he went on to top it up with remixes for Armand Van Helden and Bonde Do Role. And the beauty about the proliferation of dance music through music blogs is that even Van Helden and Kissy Sell Out gota go to a music blog to download the remixes!

If I ever got my hands on this guy's laptop, I'd definately go ransack his loop libraries and then maybe sabotage his upcoming music projects out of sheer jealousy.

The Black Ghosts - Anyway You Choose To Give It (Fake Blood Remix)
Armand Van Helden - I Want Your Soul (Fake Blood Remix) ***Highly Recomended***

Check out the second (final) breakdown of the "I Want Your Soul" remix, its the one with the distorted guitar (my best guess) sounds. Absolute awesomeness!!!

this joker called Will.I.Am

okay first theres Pharell Williams, did a remix for Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger. It recieved some good review but personally I don't think it is anything worth getting excited about. Then Kanye dropped "Stronger," in my opinion, still quite a half-assed job but its been a commercial success. Now this joker call Will.I.Am, comes along and just raps his bullshit lyrics over "Around the World."

Story has it that Will.I.Am was so happy with the track that he immediately made a video of it. Then he went to ask Thomas Bangalter for the permission to release it. And thank god Daft Punk have the sense to give Will a flatout "NO!"

Now on the topic of Daft Punk, gota check this out.
